The Phantom Tollbooth
Fri, Nov 30 2018, 7:00 pm
Full of puns and clever wordplay, The Phantom Tollbooth, an adaptation by Susan Nanus of a 1961 children’s fantasy adventure novel by Norton Juster, tells the story of a bored young boy named Milo who unexpectedly receives a magic tollbooth one afternoon and, having nothing better to do, drives through it in his toy car, transporting him to the Kingdom of Wisdom, once prosperous but now troubled. There, he acquires two faithful companions and goes on a quest to restore to the kingdom its exiled princesses—named Rhyme and Reason—from the Castle in the Air. In the process, he learns valuable lessons, finding a love of learning.
Four performances: Friday, November 30, 7:00 PM; Saturday, December 1, 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM; and Sunday, December 2, 2:00 PM. Tickets at CCM, 998 School Street, M-F 10-5, (707) 937-4133.
