Flynn Creek Circus Summer Camp

Professional circus performers from all over the world will tutor children and adults in a variety of circus skills in the nostalgic Big Top Circus tent located at Friendship Park. Daytime and evening classes available.

Children’s program (ages 6-12) 10:00-2:30, Tue-Sat

This workshop will introduce multiple circus disciplines and work to the level of each individual student. Students will experience the thrills of tumbling, swinging trapeze, Chinese jar juggling, tightwire, aerial silks, bounce juggling, hula hoop and partner acrobatics all in a safe and encouraging environment. General conditioning and stretching techniques will be emphasised to promote healthy exercise habits. Students will create an end of workshop performance.
Intermediate/Advanced (13 and up) Wed-Thur 4:30-6:30
This intensive introduces students who already have a foundation in circus skills to new skill development. Along with exploring transitional path work between existing skills, students will also sample new disciplines. Each session will focus on refining choreography, artistic cohesion and purposeful application of new skill development. New skill exploration will include tumbling, acrobatics, partner balancing and pole. Other disciplines may be added by student request. *Students for the Intermediate/advanced course are expected to arrive early and be warmed up in time for their class start.
Recommended attire: Students should wear comfortable clothing that covers the knees. Shirts should be tight or able to tuck in for upside-down activities. If students have flat-soled tennis shoes, ballet slippers or gymnastic shoes, please bring. Children’s camp students need to bring their own lunch and snack daily.
