CCM Summer Camps Begin 6/21! Signups on 6/1!


CCM is pleased to announce the launch of our 2021 Summer Program. Please note, we will be following all current Mendocino County Covid-19 protocols and will require masks, distancing temperature checks, and proper hand washing for all staff and students for the duration of the program or until further notice.

Online signups for all camps will open TOMORROW, June 1 at 10:00 AM at and will remain open until camps are filled. Space is limited to 10 children per camp.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: We will be offering installment plans that allow you to break the fees into two payments. The first half plus the registration fee is due at the time of registration and the second will be automatically deducted on July 1. Use code INSTALLMENT at checkout to take advantage of this offer.

School Programs Reopen!!!

Five long-time friends/colleagues came together at the Community Center of Mendocino to discuss re-opening their respective programs. 

CCM’s After School Enrichment Program re-opens on April 26, and serves grades K-6. Peg Brown Levy began her career at Rainbow Preschool in 1979 as an assistant teacher, and eventually became director of the ASEP at CCM. Operated formerly by the Mendocino Coast Parks & Rec. Dept., Peg has been the director at the now self-operated CCM for 16 years.

Georgia Collin currently directs Rainbow Preschool in Mendocino. Georgia began working at Rainbow in 1987, then at CCM when it housed an infant center in 1992. From there she went on to directing Caspar Children’s Garden for 17 years, returning to Rainbow as director in 2010.

Debbie Anderson has been an active educator in the Mendocino community since the mid 80’s. Deb has worked as teacher and director (on and off) for Rainbow, as well substitute teacher for all grades in the MUSD. Her countless hours of volunteerism with the school(s) and with the Mendocino Presbyterian Church are beyond commendable! She continues her work on the Board at Rainbow and enjoys visiting her 7 grandchildren.

Nancy Pollard began her career at Rainbow in 1997, and then became director at Little Lambs Preschool in Fort Bragg in 2000. After 18 years there, Nancy returned to Rainbow to become lead teacher, the position that she holds today.

Mary Anderson was teacher and director at Rainbow School from 1986-2010. She then continued her career in Early Care & Education, working for the state as mentor consultant with the California Early Childhood Mentor Program. Rainbow Preschool re-opens on May 3rd for a summer program. 

Both CCM and Rainbow staff have worked hard training and preparing for reopening, following state guidelines and protocol for safety required due to the covid pandemic. All of these dedicated professionals attended College of the Redwoods to complete ECE coursework, and participated in many thousands of hours of ECE trainings/workshops. They are all hopeful that newly qualified teachers and caregivers will “carry the torch” into the future, stressing the importance of quality education and love for our children.

CCM’S After School Enrichment Program Reopening #2

Dear Parents,

After regrouping and modifying the After School Enrichment Program we are planning to try to reopen AGAIN!

  • Sign ups will begin April 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM
  • Our program will begin April 26th and will run through June 18th! This is a two month session and pricing reflects two months of enrollment.

Please read carefully as our registration options and format has changed:

Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. You have the option to sign up for 2-day sessions or 4-day sessions:

  • 2-Day Sessions: Monday/Tuesday OR Thursday/Friday
  • 4-day Sessions: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer scholarships at this time but we encourage you to take advantage of the COVID Relief Plan’s Childcare tax credit if you qualify.  We are offering installment plans for those attending the full session (4 days). Half due upon registration and remaining half automatically charged on May 21. (Enter code “INSTALLMENT” at checkout.)

We are following MUSD’s Program so they can bus the kids to the Center after dismissal, so if your child is not an MUSD student this does not apply to you. Your child’s team at CCM coincides with their school group and schedule.


MUSD Group A (K-2nd grade) = CCM Red Team (11:00-2:00)

MUSD Group B (K-2nd grade) = CCM Blue Team (3:00-5:00)

MUSD Group A (3rd-6th grade) = CCM Orange Team (11:00-2:00)

MUSD Group B (3rd-6th grade) = CCM Orane Team (3:00-5:00)

Due to Covid-19 mandates in the red tier, we are required to maintain “pods” or “teams”. Pods may not intermingle and no more than 10 children in a team with one instructor for no less than one month!

This means we can have no more than 40 children signed up for the session. We will be opening in the “red” but we are reopening to serve YOU! PLEASE support us by signing up quickly so we will be able to move forward!

COVID Protocol will require the following:

  • Children will be required to wear masks, stay six feet apart and wash their hands frequently.
  • Temperature checks will be assessed upon arrival.
  • Sanitizing procedures will be observed throughout the day and we will be closed on Wednesdays for deep cleaning of the Center.

  • Parents must wait outside the Center when delivering or picking up their children and children must be signed in and out each day.
  • Snacks will not be provided, so please send your child with a water bottle and bagged lunch.

MASKS & Social Distancing REQUIRED

ARRIVAL: The movie will begin promptly at 9:00. Parking spaces are first-come, first-served (trucks and larger vehicles will be parked in the back)  please arrive no earlier than 8:00 but no later than 8:45. You will check in at the CCM parking lot entrance on School Street. Each vehicle must observe the “social bubble/family support group” COVID guidelines.

CONDUCT: YOU MUST REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES except to use the restroom 1 person at a time (unless accompanying a small child). MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING is required at all times when outside of the vehicle. You MAY NOT sit outside of your vehicle in any manner.

TICKETS AND CONCESSIONS: All tickets must be purchased in advance (No “day of” admission will be permitted). Tickets are $25 per car, up to 4 people. Extra passengers are $5 each. Pre-packaged concession / Ticket combos are available. (THIS IS AN ALCOHOL-FREE EVENT)

RECYCLING AND TRASH: We suggest you bring your own trash bag. Because of safety protocols, no public garbage cans will be available.

FM RADIO NEEDED: The movie’s sound will be transmitted to an FM radio station… We will not have speakers so you will need an FM car radio or other portable radio. We will provide the FM access station upon arrival.

DISRUPTIVE LIGHTS: Please be sure to turn off your headlights and domelights prior to the start of the movie. Since you may want to turn on your engine once in a while to avoid a dead battery (we’ll have jumper cables on hand just in case) please be mindful of the fact that your vehicle may have automatic headlights. If you are unable to turn off that function, we ask that you bring a blanket to cover your headlights. We also ask that you refrain from hitting the brakes during the movie.

RESTROOMS: Restrooms and hand-washing sinks will be available at Friendship Park. Volunteers will be on hand to enforce social distancing, mask wearing, and to sanitize the facility in between use.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In the case of rain, we may have to cancel. Refunds will be issued.
